CLEVELAND -- The Browns are playing it safe with Trent Richardson. Kyle Seager Mariners Jersey . Clevelands star running back will not play in the clubs exhibition opener on Thursday night against the St. Louis Rams as he continues to recover from an injured right shin. Richardson was accidentally kicked in the shin -- the same one he hurt during spring practice -- last week, and the Browns wont risk him hurting it further. "Were going to be smart," coach Rob Chudzinski said following Wednesdays practice, which was moved indoors because of heavy rain. Chudzinski said Richardson could have played if it was a regular-season game, but the Browns are being careful with the former first-round pick, who has had a history with injuries and played most of last season with two broken ribs. Chudzinski said he is not concerned about Richardsons durability. "Its the preseason, we have a plan of working him and making sure that he gets reps as needed out here in practice and we build him to be ready for the beginning of the season," Chudzinski said. Richardson did not play in any of Clevelands exhibition games a year ago, when he was recovering from minor knee surgery. He recently said one of his goals was to play in all four of Clevelands preseason games. Richardson took part in some drills on Wednesday, but was not on the field during team activities. Chudzinski said Richardson understands the reasons for the Browns keeping him out. Richardson rushed for 950 yards and caught 51 passes for 367 yards as a rookie. He played in 15 games, missing only the finale at Pittsburgh with an ankle injury sustained the previous week at Denver. Chudzinski said Dion Lewis will start in Richardsons spot. Also, starting strong safety T.J. Ward (hamstring) and starting guard Shawn Lauvao (ankle) will also sit out against the Rams. The Browns plan to play their starters for about one quarter, meaning quarterback Brandon Weeden will only have a few series to impress Clevelands coaching staff and maybe silence some critics who dont think hes Clevelands long-term answer at QB. Weeden has showed progress during training camp, and seems more comfortable with the Browns new offence. His goals against the Rams are pretty simple. "Just string together consecutive good plays, string together couple good drives, just get the feel of the game," he said. "Its a little different than practice, obviously theres going to be some emotions, theres going to be a lot more adrenaline and stuff like that. So I think its just put together a couple good drives and completions and just manage the game and do the things I need to do to move the ball up the field." The Browns defence has had the upper hand during recent practices, but Weeden feels Clevelands offence is starting to gel. "Were making strides," he said. "We have a long ways to go. I dont think were where we need to be. I think if you ask anybody, theyd all say the same thing, weve got a long ways to go. I still feel good about the guys we have. Im excited about the potential we have offensively. Once you get in the game and you get those live reps you can get a better understanding, because its tough when you go against your defence all the time and they have a pretty good idea what youre doing and you know what theyre doing. "So well see, but weve got some work to do." On defence, the Browns will get their first chance to unleash an aggressive scheme that has been installed by new co-ordinator Ray Horton, who spent the past two seasons in Arizona. Cornerback Joe Haden said the Browns are eager to go against another team, if for no other reason than to break up the monotony of training camp. "We just want to be able to hit somebody else besides our own teammates," Haden said. "Honestly, see how the scheme works. See how when were in practice and were blitzing against our offence and sometimes we get to the quarterback and have to back off. How it looks when you really just get to go all out and if the quarterback is really going to have to release it or if the offensive line is going to pick up the blocks. "Its going to be really good to see in a game-time situation how the blitzes really work." ---- NOTES: Rookie CB Leon McFadden (groin) and RB Montario Hardesty (hamstring) will also sit out the preseason opener. McFadden missed his first practice on Wednesday. ... Johnson Bademosi will start for Ward and Jason Pinkston will replace Lauvao at right guard. ... The Browns will honour Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown at their nationally televised Oct. 3 game against Buffalo. The team did not provide any specifics about the tribute but said "the event figures to be among the most singular memories in the teams rich timeline." Felix Hernandez Jersey. Parker had 26 points and eight assists and San Antonio beat Toronto 112-99 Monday night. "We won that game because of Tony Parkers aggressiveness," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "His juice; his aggression all night long. Norichika Aoki Jersey . And when it opened, every player was at his stall. Thats a sure sign that a team is in a slump and is searching for answers. "Its embarrassing to be at home and play the way we did," said defenceman Josh Gorges. . Once again Jordan Cieciwa (@FitCityJordan) and I (@LynchOnSports) go head to head in our picks. COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M Aggies recorded their third consecutive shutout with a 2-0 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini on Sunday evening at Ellis Field. In a match that started 82 minutes late due to inclement weather, Texas A&M played stout defense to run their stretch of consecutive minutes without yielding goal to 278. The backline of Kendall Ritchie, Margaret Schmidt, Grace Piper, McKayla Paulson and Grace Wright held Illinois (2-4-0) to 10 shots, including three in the first half, and Dani Rice made four saves for her third shutout of the season and the sixth of her career. The Aggies nearly broke the scoring seal in the 22nd minute. Emily Bates unleashed a shot from six yards that was headed for the back of the net until it hit midfielder Allison Stucky on the touchline. The carom came out to Haley Pounds who crushed a shot into a wall of defenders in the six-yard box. The final punch in the combination was sent over the goal by Grace Piper from 10 yards.Texas A&M (4-2-0) produced the lid lifter a minute later. Piper made a sliding clearance in the center circle that headed towards the penalty box. With Pounds in hot pursuit, an Illinois defender attempted to head the ball back to goalkeeper Claire Wheatley who was late coming off the line. Pounds took advantage of the miscommunication. At the penalty spot, Pounds was able to poke the ball with her right foot over the mitts of Wheatley to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The Aggies went into the intermission with the 1-0 lead, outshooting Illinois 6-3 and owning a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.Bates tacked on a goal in the 60th minute, her second goal of the weekend. At the top of the penalty box, Jordan Hill headed a ball to the feet of Haley Pounds off to the right. Pounds slipped a short pass to Bates who dribbled through the arc before unleashing a low driving left-footed shot inside the right post for the 2-0 lead.Cienna Arrieta continued to be aa menace on offense despite not logging a goal in the match. Hisashi Iwakuma Jersey. In the 32nd minute, she took a bending free kick from 22 yards out that Wheatley had punch over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Arrieta hit the crossbar on a shot from 15 yards.Shots were even in the match (10-10) and Texas A&M owned a 7-6 edge in corner kicks. The victory was the 399th in program history and the Aggies will go for win No. 400 next Sunday when they host the LSU Tigers in the SEC Opener at Ellis Field.TEXAS A&M QUOTESHead Coach G. GuerrieriIts a good win because we have had to battle against some really good teams, some tough and well-coached teams. Janet Rayfield is one of the most respected and intellectual coaches out there. That team was good enough to beat us if we dont come out and have a solid night. I was pleased with the way Dani Rice continues to do her thing back there. But as much as anything, Im pleased with the way shes leading the back line. Emily Bates goal was a really pretty one. The first goal by Haley Pounds was won on pure heart, being able to get to a ball that probably wasnt even a 50-50 ball. She was able to beat the keeper to it and put it away.Sophomore defender Margaret SchmidtOn the defense...The defenses goal is always to get a shutout, so we are really happy of course. I thought Dani Rice played one heckuva game. Illinois offense was really strong especially in the first five minutes, so were really pleased to be able to get the shutout.Junior forward Haley PoundsOn the goal...The ball was played into the box and I saw them try to head it back to the keeper. I think they had a little miscommunication that I picked up on. I was able to get my foot on it and put it in the back of the net. The coaches want me to keep pressing the defense so to get a goal off that pressing was good. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
Florida State coach Jimbo Fishers week started with some good news. Roger Maris Jersey .Both defensive end DeMarcus Walker and quarterback Deondre Francois are expected to be in action when the Seminoles play at Syracuse on Saturday. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Carrier Dome with the game featured in a split telecast between ABC and ESPN2.Walker leads the No. 17 Seminoles (7-3, 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) with 11 sacks, an average of 1.1 per game that ranks in a tie for third in the country. He was seen wearing a protective boot near the end of last weeks win over Boston College, but he is expected to play against the unranked Orange (4-6, 2-4 ACC).Francois, who is passing for 267.5 yards a game, sat out the fourth quarter to protect a shoulder injury, but Fisher said the redshirt freshman could have played if needed. Obviously, he wasnt needed over the final 15 minutes of the 45-7 rout of the Eagles. But tempering the good news: Defensive back Derwin James has finally been ruled out for the rest of the season. He hasnt played since injuring his knee in the second game of the season.Fisher also noted one other lineup change for this week. Junior Rich Leonard, who started the first four games, will be back at right tackle after sophomore Brock Ruble, who started the past six outings, sustained a groin injury against Boston College.Once he got going in the game, he picked up two or three really nice twists, Fisher said of Leonard. Played physical. Did a nice job.The injury report on the other side isnt as optimistic.Orange quarterback Eric Dungey, who sat out last weeks loss to North Carolina State after sustaining an injury to his head or upper body against Clemson a week earlier, is considered doubtful. Coach Dino Babers seems to be taking things in stride. As a football coach and as a football player, that stuff happens all the time, Babers said. Guys get hurt. Thats what makes our game so unpredictable, and its also the thing that makes our game so cool. ... You do get an opportunity to hit a star.He compared that to basketball with untouchable superstars such as Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. In basketball, you dont get to touch Michael Jordan or you get in trouble, he said. You get in trouble if you touch Magic. In football, you get to touch them as long as you play within the rules. As a football player, guys get hurt and guys come back, and we embrace the ideal of finding a way to find the next man to step up.In this instance, that would be Zack Mahoney. The junior didnt put up big numbers last week against N.C. State -- he completed 14 of 25 passes for 190 yards, a little over 100 yards fewer than Dungey is averaging a game -- but he wasnt helped by an anemic running game that produced just 28 yards. Its not Zacks job to play like Eric, although if he wants to, Im all for it, Babers said. What we expect is for the other 21 guys to elevate their game so that Zack can play under control and we still have an opportunity to win.Mahoney did show the ability to throw the ball down the field but will have to rely on the offensive line to give him time to do so if he does start. That is no easy task. The Seminoles have 33 sacks for the year.We would all love to have Eric, but the next guy has to step up, and thats exactly what Zack did (Saturday), Syracuse running back Dontae Strickland said. He did what he had to do, and offensively we didnt put up the numbers we usually do, but its different with a different team captain on the field. But well come back next week, so we just have to improve. One thing to watch for: Florida State running back Dalvin Cook goes into the game needing just 19 yards to become the programs all-time leading rusher. The junior has run for 1,242 yards this year, giving him 1,941 for his career. Warrick Dunn is the all-time leader with 1,959 yards from 1993-96. Derek Jeter Yankees Jersey . Defencemen Drew Doughty, Shea Weber and forward Ryan Getzlaf also scored for the Canadians, who started their gold-medal defence 2-0. Goalie Roberto Luongo, getting the call in place of Game 1 starter Carey Price, was solid when needed in making 23 saves for the shutout. Dellin Betances Yankees Jersey .Y. - General manager Billy King says the Brooklyn Nets are looking to add a big man and confirmed the team worked out centre Jason Collins, who would become the first openly gay active NBA player if signed. .Y. -- Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has drawn on his Syracuse connections once again by hiring Rob Moore to take over as receivers coach. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Ready or not, the Rio Olympics are opening their doors. The Games begin in just over two weeks, but the Athletes Village opens officially on Sunday, meaning 10,500 athletes and another 7,000 staff members will start trickling into the luxurious layout, with the pace picking up daily until the Aug. 5 opening ceremony at the Maracana Stadium. The 31-building compound should pamper the worlds best. Its set among tennis courts, soccer fields, seven swimming pools -- with mountains and the sea as a backdrop -- and topped off by a massive dining-kitchen compound thats as large as three football fields.I want to help all the athletes have a wonderful welcome to Brazil, said Priscilla Antonello, a residence center deputy manager whose job is to help athletes find their accommodations. Will she be star-struck by so many Olympians?I couldnt be in this job if I behaved like that, she replied Saturday, standing on the 13th floor of one of buildings, gazing out over cycling paths, bubbling fountains and lots of green. She already knows which countries will be where, but shes not allowed to say. Some delegations had already arrived on Saturday, easy to spot with banners or flags hanging off the sides of buildings.Slovenia had the best banner. In green and white it says: I Feel sLOVEenia. The LOVE portion was set off in white type, making sure the message got across.Another read: All for Denmark.Banners or flags from Canada, Britain, Portugal, Finland and Sweden were among those spotted. A tiny red and yellow Chinese flag was pinned near the top of one of the compounds.Everything about the village is massive, though fairly standard for recent Summer Olympics.Organizers say the compound has:- 10,160 rooms; 18,000 beds; seven laundries; an enormous, hospital-like clinic; a massive gym.In addition, organizers are providing 450,000 condoms, three times more than London did four years ago. Among them will be 100,000 female condoms.Organizers said this is to encourage safe sex. Many had considered that increased supply to be due to Brazils outbreak of the Zika virus, which has been linked to birth defects. Bernie Williams Yankees Jersey. .Asked about it on Saturday, deputy chief medical officer Marcelo Patricio replied: No, its not. Then theres the dining-kitchen area, a sprawling tent where officials expect to serve about 60,000 meals daily to Olympians and staff -- and perhaps another 10,000 daily to the hired help. The hardest part is knowing how much to prepare, said Flavia Albuquerque, who oversees Rios food and beverage service. We want them to eat anything they want to.That will be easy. The choices are nearly infinite. Diners will choose from different buffets -- Brazilian, Asian, International, and Pasta and Pizza. Then theres a casual dining area that will feature barbeque. The casual area might be the most popular, Albuquerque said. There will be lots of dirty plates, but none to wash. The plates will be biodegradable, made of corn and sugar cane.Brazilians figure their food will be a hit: rice, black beans, farofa (flour from toasted cassava often sprinkled on top of food) and meat. And Brazils exotic juice will be popular: caju, acai, carambola, caqui, goiaba and maracuja, often squeezed into juices -- sucos in Portuguese.Billionaire real estate developer Carlos Carvalho might have the only problem. He aims to sell the 3,604 apartments after the Olympics -- some in the range of 2.3 million ($700,000). Carvalhos company Carvalho Hosken has declined to say how many have been sold, but reports say only between 6-10 percent. The project is a victim of Brazils deep recession, the worst since the 1930s.Carvalho Hosken earlier said the projects total cost was about $1.5 billion, including construction, land acquisition and other development costs.---Stephen Wade on Twitter: .His work can be found at Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys AuthenticWholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

DETROIT -- Tomas Tatar broke out of a scoring slump. The Detroit Red Wings did, too.Tatar got his first career hat trick, helping Detroit beat the Anaheim Ducks 6-4 on Saturday night to get a desperately needed win with a breakout offensive performance. Its perfect timing, he said.Tatar got his third goal early in the third period, putting the puck on both sides of his stick before flipping it over John Gibson.Detroit scored more goals (four) in the first two periods than it totaled over its previous four games -- all home losses -- and finished with a season scoring high.We knew we werent good enough the last four games, Tatar said.Detroit has needed Tatar to play better, too.The Slovak winger almost matched the number of goals (four) he scored in his first 31 games of the season. Cam Fowler gave them another two-goal lead early in the second.Tatar, though, pulled Detroit within a goal for the second time, and quickly the Red Wings figured out a way to score.A little luck helped.Tatar shot the puck and it went off the left skate of Fowler, caromed off the end boards and went off the back of Berniers left leg and into the net. Its a tough building when youre not used to those bounces, Bernier said.Detroits Dylan Larkin went to the front of the net and into the crease and was rewarded with a tying goal midway through the second period that stood after a video review and challenge by Carlyle.I thought I was in good position and had it, Bernier said. ST. LOUIS -- While the Milwaukee Brewers are negotiating one of their toughest stretches of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals are seeking any kind of traction in a place that has suddenly turned cruel. When the teams start a three-game weekend series Friday night in Busch Stadium, Milwaukee will try to reverse its recent trend of losing to St. Louis while the Cardinals will attempt to reverse a stunning streak of futility.Thursday nights 4-2 loss to Kansas City marked St. Louis seventh straight home defeat, its longest streak of that kind since Aug. 2-15 of 1983, and dropped its record to 15-23 at home. Last year, the Cardinals didnt lose their 23rd home game until Sept. 7.A major factor in St. Louis inability to win when wearing white uniforms has been its defense, or the lack of it. The Cardinals made three errors in each of their two losses to the Royals and have been charged with an major-league-high 62 errors, leading to 28 unearned runs.By contrast, last years 100-win team that captured the NL Central title committed only 96 errors and gave up just 47 unearned runs. Its a surprise to all of us, outfielder/first baseman Brandon Moss said. Weve got a lot of guys who are all defensively sound. Its just one of those things that happens. You want to play well in front of your home fans. You want to give them a reason to get excited. Team Bath continued their Vitality Superleague season with a 58-38 victory over Yorkshire Jets on Monday night. Shawn Matthias Jersey . An impressive Team Bath, led by player-of-the-match Eboni Beckford-Chambers, were on top from the start to see off the Jets in Sheffield but there was room for optimism for Anna Carters team after an improved performance from the opening game of the season when they were sunk 65-34 on Super Saturday by Loughborough Lightning.Bath, who began with victory over Surrey Storm at the weekend, had the better of a tightly contested opening period despite the Jets hard work and the visitors ruthless attacking had them four ahead at the break. Jets showed more promise in the second quarter but too many errors were punished by their ruthless opponents who seized on them at every opportunity. Despite the improvements, the home side went into half-time with a 10-point deficit. The third quarter saw changes for Jets, including Du Toit moving from goal keeper to shooter, but they failed to have the desired effect and it was a punishing 15 minutes for Team Bath who rarely looked like missing under the post and pulled into a 16-shot lead. Eboni Beckford-Chambers was player of the match as Team Bath beat Yorkshire Jets 58-38 in Sheffield Team Bath consolidated their lead in the final 15 minutes despite an enthusiastic home support at the English Institute of Sport and managed to close out a 20-point victory to maintain a perfect start.Jets next face another tough test when they travel to reigning Superleague champions Surrey Storm on February 13, while the Jets face the Manchester Thunder the day before.  Also See: Vitality Superleague fixtures Table Live on Sky Sportswomen Laurie Boschman Jersey .Y. -- Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has drawn on his Syracuse connections once again by hiring Rob Moore to take over as receivers coach. Dustin Byfuglien Jets Jersey . NEW YORK -- Mark McGwire is getting another swing at the Hall of Fame. The former slugger who admitted using steroids joins Bud Selig, George Steinbrenner and seven others on the Todays Game Era ballot to be considered for election to Cooperstown in December. The announcement was made Monday by the Baseball Hall of Fame. The ballot is part of changes to the election process announced by the Halls board of directors in July. The ballot is comprised of five players, three executives and two managers who made their biggest impact from 1988 on.Its flattering. Its fantastic. I mean, thank you, McGwire told The Associated Press in a phone interview. Its very flattering to have another opportunity to possibly get into the Hall of Fame. Its exciting.McGwire said hed heard of the committee, but didnt think his name would come up for a long time.I didnt know it was going to be this year, considering last year was my last year on the (writers) ballot. Its very flattering.Harold Baines, Albert Belle, Will Clark, Orel Hershiser, Davey Johnson, Lou Piniella and John Schuerholz round out the class of 2017 candidates on the new ballot. All are alive except for Steinbrenner, the bombastic and successful owner of the New York Yankees from 1973 until his death in 2010.Selig served as baseballs acting commissioner from September 1992 to July 1998 and then as commissioner until January 2015. He oversaw an era of immense change that included expansion, wild cards and interleague play.It is Seligs first appearance on a Hall of Fame ballot, and the third for Steinbrenner. He fell short on 2010 and 2013 Expansion Era ballots.Voting is Dec. 5 during the winter meetings in Maryland. To be enshrined, candidates must receive votes on at least 75 percent of the ballots cast by the 16-member Todays Game Era Committee. Those voters, appointed by the Hall of Fame board, will be announced this fall.McGwire ranks 11th on the career list with 583 home runs. Tainted by performmance-enhancing drugs, however, he never came close to getting elected by the Baseball Writers Association of America and dropped off that ballot this year after his 10th and final chance. Dale Hawerchuk Jets Jersey. Numbers-wise, what Ive done, I truly believe they are Hall of Fame-worthy. For what I did hitting home runs, 583, Im the only guy in history averaging one in every 10 at-bats, he said. If you look at how many games and at-bats I did it in, it was a lot less than most guys in the Hall of Fame. Im proud of that. I truly believe I was born a home run hitter.Yet McGwire, who spent this past season as bench coach for the San Diego Padres, never received more than 23.7 percent of the vote from the BBWAA -- far short of the 75 percent required for election. He garnered 12.3 percent in his last appearance. He was asked whether he thinks his steroids admission and subsequent apology will sway this particular committee. Its obviously up to them. Theyre obviously up to speed with that. The writers felt the way they did. I truly respect how they felt. I did admit to it, and you know, theres nothing else I can say. I did what I did and I apologized for doing what I did, McGwire said. The process of the Todays Game Era Committee provides an avenue for Hall of Fame consideration to managers, umpires and executives, as well as players retired for more than 15 seasons -- like McGwire. Todays Game Era was one of four eras committees outlined in July when the Hall detailed its latest set of election changes.Finalists on the ballot revealed Monday were selected by the Historical Overview Committee appointed by the BBWAA, made up of 11 veteran historians.Any candidates elected Dec. 5 would be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 30 next year along with any players voted in by the BBWAA. Those results will be announced Jan. 18, 2017. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From ChinaCheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
EVANSTON, Ill. Cheap Bears Jerseys China . -- It looks as if No. 20 Nebraskas return to the Top 25 wont be a one-week affair.Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw for 246 yards and ran for a career-high 132 yards to lead the Cornhuskers to a 24 -13 victory over Northwestern on Saturday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.Nebraska (4-0) remained unbeaten coming off a tight win over Oregon that vaulted the `Huskers into The Associated Press poll for the first time since December 2014.They lost two fumbles near the Northwestern goal line in the first half, but scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to stretch their lead from three to 11.We got two touchdowns early in the game, but theres no points on the board, coach Mike Riley said. So how are you going to react to that? Im really pleased with our reaction. The Wildcats (1-3) matched their loss total from last year when they went 10-3.Armstrong went 18 of 29, hitting Alonzo Moore with a 59-yarder in the first half and throwing a 4-yard touchdown strike to Cethan Carter that made it 17-7 early in the third after Aaron Williams intercepted Clayton Thorsons pass in the end zone.Terrell Newby ran for 69 yards and a touchdown . Moore had 72 yards receiving, and Nebraska finished with 556 yards in all.Thorson threw for 249 yards and had a 42-yard touchdown run. But he also threw two interceptions and was sacked four times, bringing his Big Ten-leading total to 15.Austin Carr had another big game for Northwestern with 109 yards receiving and a touchdown, giving him at least one scoring catch in three straight games. But a team that seemed to be getting on track with last weeks win over Duke after opening with losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State came up short against the resurgent Cornhuskers. These guys better figure it out pretty quick, coach Pat Fitzgerald said. They better walk out of the locker room. They better hug whoever they love. Theyd better go to bed and theyd better wake up and theyve got to get ready to get their rear ends coached off this week because thats whats gonna happen. Im not gonna sit here and Im not gonna take it and Im not gonna accept it. Theyd better buckle it up. Theyd better start hydrating right now because its not acceptable the way were playing. It starts and ends with me so Im gonna fix it.Nebraska drove 80 yards for a touchdown after Williams picked off Thorson in the end zone on the opening drive of the second half, with Carters 4-yard TD catch making it 17-7.Northwestern answered with a 24-yard TD pass from Thorson to Carr, but Jack Mitchells extra-point attempt hit the left upright. The Cornhuskers then went 79 yards with Jordan Westerkamp running it in from the 10 to boost the lead to 24-13.THE TAKEAWAYNEBRASKA: The Cornhuskers ultimately took charge after those early turnovers and continue to roll along in their second season under Mike Riley. Its a big improvement over last year, when they had to rally to finish 6-7.NORTHWESTERN: Coach Pat Fitzgerald has been criticizing his team for not finishing drives. Hell probably have more to say about it, considering Northwestern racked up 388 yards. But the defense had its difficulties, too.HOLD ONNebraska might have put this one away in the first half if not for the turnovers. On the games opening possession, Newby fumbled as he tried to lung across the goal line at the end of a 49-yard run with two defenders in pursuit. The ball popped out as he contorted himself in mid-air along the sideline and bounced through the end zone.Nebraska had the ball on the 2 late in the second quarter when a spinning Devine Ozigbo lost a fumble.POLL IMPLICATIONS:Nebraska certainly appeared to strengthen its standing in the poll with this win, taking control after a shaky first half.KICKING COMPETITIONWhile Fitzgerald said Jack Mitchell will continue to handle kickoffs, field-goal duties and extra points are now up for grabs. Mitchell will be competing this week with Matt Micucci after he booted a 27-yard field goal wide right and hit the upright on a missed PAT.UP NEXTNEBRASKA: The Cornhuskers return home to face Illinois, which handed them one of their most disappointing losses a year ago. That was on a last-second touchdown and extra point in Champaign.NORTHWESTERN: Northwestern goes on the road for the first time when it visits Iowa -- a 14-7 winner at Rutgers after a surprising loss to North Dakota State. Cheap Bears Jerseys . Hamelin, who triumphed in the 500 on Saturday, edged out Victor An of Russia by 0.021 seconds to maintain his lead in the World Cup standings. Russias Vladimir Grigorev was third. In the relay, Canada took control six laps from the finish line to beat Russia and the Netherlands. Cheap Bears Jerseys Authentic . This should be celebrated because it will not always be this way. With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season. . On Saturday night, the normally free throw-challenged centre did just that. Howard scored 18 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, including 13 of 19 free throws in a 2 1/2-minute stretch, and the Houston Rockets beat the Denver Nuggets 122-111.BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil -- Brazils players wept with joy inside the stadium, and Brazilian protesters were sprayed with tear gas outside it as the countrys national football team reached the Confederations Cup final despite another wave of mass demonstrations on the streets. Brazil beat neighbours Uruguay 2-1 with an 86th minute header from Paulinho in a performance that failed to reach the commanding heights of earlier games. As thousands of anti-government protesters clashed with police nearby, inside the Mineirao Stadiujm, Brazils footballers reached Sundays final in Rio de Janeiro with a patchy display. Security was high at the semifinal as protesters, in part angered by the billions of dollars spent on World Cup preparations, targeted this high-profile semifinal in the latest in a series of demonstrations that have taken place in Brazil during the Confederations Cup. They were met by tear gas and rubber bullets during clashes with police, but the match itself was unaffected by the protests. Protests have already been announced for Sundays final at the Maracana Stadium. "Its a new team and this is going to help us grow for the World Cup," Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar said. "We know that we can face a very difficult opponent (and win)." Cesar prevented Uruguay from taking the lead in Belo Horizonte, saving a penalty kick from Uruguay striker Diego Forlan in the 13th minute. The save turned out to be decisive. Just as they later did for the winner, Paulinho and Neymar combined to help set up Brazils opener just before halftime. Neymar brought down Paulinhos high ball and, after his initial shot was saved by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, Fred pounced on the loose ball to score. Although Edinson Cavani seized on sloppy defending to equalize for Uruguay three minutes into the second half, Brazil finally started to click as an attacking force and now either Spain or Italy stand between the host nation and a third consecutive Confederations Cup title. "We are not ready yet," Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said. "We have to go through this, through all these situations so we can grow and evolve ... and reach the World Cup in better shape." "What I have to show them is the progress that they made. This is how I make them self-confident," he said. With each victory, Scolari is raising expectations that Brazil can replicate its 2002 World Cup success under him and clinch the title for the sixth time in 2014. "We played with our hearts," Scolari said, before sounding a note of caution: "Mainly, from the middle of the field onwards, we still lack a link there so we can have better chances to score. Cheap Chicago Bears Jerseys. " Inside the stadium, animosity was directed from the start at Uruguay captain Diego Lugano, who enraged Brazil by accusing Neymar of diving on the eve of the match. The crowd was even more incensed when Lugano won a penalty in the 13th minute, although there was little to dispute David Luizs tugging of the defenders shirt. Facing a wall of noise, Forlan struck low and Cesar dived correctly to his left. It was the fourth penalty out of eight in the tournament so far to be missed. Forlan was the most potent attacking threat on the pitch as Brazil struggled to impose itself on the game. The swagger and verve the Brazilians had rediscovered to open the tournament with three group-stage victories was missing in an edgy start by the hosts. Neymar, on whose shoulders the nations World Cup hopes are resting, was lacking the service to make an impact. There was the occasional moment of menace, with Hulk using his strength to burst through the defence, but Uruguay came closer to taking the lead. Uruguays resistance was eventually broken by Fred. Two defenders proved to be an ineffective barrier, even to a scuffed shot from Fred which landed in the bottom corner of the net. Brazils elation disappeared three minutes into the second half. Slack defending gifted Uruguay its way back as several chances to clear the danger were wasted. A clearance from Luiz lacked urgency, then Thiago Silvas pass to Marcelo was easily intercepted by Cavani, who scored past Cesar. However shoddy the work of Brazils defenders, the quality of the forwards started to shine through as the game became feisty, with five yellow cards awarded. Brazil pressed and probed for the winner: Fred struck over from Neymars cross and the star forward had an effort saved himself. The game was heating up, and Neymar exchanged taunts with Uruguays Alvaro Gonzalez before sarcastically blowing him a kiss. But Neymar helped to ensure Brazil had the last say in the match, as he floated a corner into the penalty area that Paulinho rose above Martin Caceres to meet and head into the net. "It was an even match, maybe we even had more chances than Brazil, but football is like this," Uruguay striker Luis Suarez said. "In the end they found a way to win." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres right-hander Colin Rea needs to make the most of his start against the visiting New York Yankees as the teams open a three-game interleague series Friday night. Air Max 95 Homme Noir .Rea (4-3, 5.05 ERA) has won once in his last eight starts, but that victory came in his most recent outing when beating the Reds after allowing four runs (three earned) in five innings.Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (6-5, 5.19) goes for the Yankees, who are coming off of two straight walk-off victories over the Texas Rangers. Eovaldi has struggled of late, allowing at least five runs in four of his past five starts. Hell be looking to snap a three-game losing streak and that includes falling to the Twins on Sunday, when was charged with five runs over six innings.Rea is required to shine for a couple reasons. His opportunities could be dwindling in the second half as the Padres get healthy and they aim to keep Rea fit, too.The thought process would be to push him to the back of the rotation coming off the All-Star break so he gets a longer period of time off, Padres manager Andy Green said. Just to control his innings. If the Padres can tap the brakes on Rea, they said it will serve him better in the long run. The most innings hes collected in a season is 139 and he did that in Class-A ball in 2014.Also, the Padres rotation could get crowded, making Reas showing against the Yankees -- and in one more start before the All-Star Game -- critical.Right-hander Andrew Cashner is set to come off the disabled list because of a strained neck and could start in Sundays series finale against the Yankees.Tyson Ross, another right-hander and the teams opening day starter, is gaining ground on his sore throwing shoulder. He hasnt pitched since his first start but it appears he could rejoin the rotation soon after the All-Star Game.So that puts pressure on Rea, 25, to shine while he has the chance. Its all about command with him, Green said. Hes got the stuff to compete, but sometimes he picks at the corners and falls behind hitters.Thats what happened in Reas latest start in Cincinnati. His biggest downfall was matching a career high with four walks. But like Green said, Rea has stuff. His seven strikeouts against the Reds were a career-best.Among Reas biggest challenges Friday will be containing Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran -- if he plays with his sore right hamstring. Its probably easier to manage if he was DHing but were going to San Diego, Yankees skipper Joe Girardi told So that is a concern.San Diegos Wil Myers, who earned his stripes in the American League, has hit .304 in 102 at-bats against the Yankees. The first baseman continues his push for an All-Star roster spot with a sizzling June.He had 21 extra-base hits in June, tying the franchise mark for most in a month. Myers 33 RBI are the tops for any Padre in June.A rejuvenated Padres offense has scored at least five runs in seven straight home games, the first time thats ever been done by the local nine at Petco Park. Air Max 2017 Homme . CHERBOURG-EN-COTENTIN, France -- The Tour de France can rarely be won in the first week.It can be lost, though.Stage 2 on Sunday was a case in point.Four contenders for the overall title lost time over a wet and challenging route that resembled a course for a single-day classic, with two short climbs -- one of them very steep -- near the finish. If a key contender continues to lose time over easier stages in the first week, he will find it difficult to get back into contention once the mountains come later in the race.Vincenzo Nibali, the 2014 champion from Italy, and top French hope Thibaut Pinot each finished 11 seconds behind stage winner Peter Sagan as they struggled up the final climb. It was like a classics finale, on slippery roads, a bit complicated, Pinot said. There are still a couple of tricky stages to come. I need to be patient but all in all Im satisfied.Two-time Tour winner Alberto Contador fell to the ground for the second consecutive day and lost 48 seconds.I lost more time than I had hoped to lose, Contador said. I hit the handlebars and I was hurt on the other side from yesterday. I must stay calm, not lose morale. ... The Tour has really started on the wrong footing. Im not happy at all. Its cycling. I must seee if I can make up some time in the Pyrenees and the Alps.Air Max 2017 Homme Noir. Richie Porte, the co-captain of the BMC squad with American standout Tejay van Garderen, punctured a tire toward the end and didnt have any teammates to help him ride back into the peloton. Porte dropped 1 minute, 45 seconds -- likely ending his chances of overall victory.Porte, an Australian, was Chris Froomes top support rider at Team Sky during the Britons Tour wins in 2013 and 2015. He joined the BMC squad for this season with hopes of individual glory.Froome, the Kenyan-born British rider who is favored to defend his title, is placed well in fifth overall, 14 seconds behind leader Sagan.Nairo Quintana, the two-time runner-up from Colombia, also hasnt lost any time in the overall battle and is positioned seventh with the same time as Froome. The other overall favorites who have not lost time are Spanish Vuelta champion Fabio Aru of Italy, Romain Bardet of France and van Garderen. After a flatter Stage 3, more trouble looms in a hilly Stage 4, followed by the first mountain test on Stage 5.The 21-stage race ends July 24 in Paris. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
GREEN BAY, Wis. Colorado Rockies Jersey . -- An athletic tight end added to the passing game. Deep balls turned into game-changing plays. And in the backfield, a former receiver has turned into a breakaway threat on the ground. The Green Bay Packers have found offensive balance and more options for quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the teams late-season surge back into the playoff picture. That run the table comment that Rodgers made when the Packers were 4-6 -- referring to Green Bay needing to win its final six regular-season games -- isnt such a far-fetched idea after all.Obviously its a leap of faith, but also a feeling based on seeing these guys every single day, understanding how close I felt like we were to being a better offense, Rodgers said Tuesday. The passing game was already the strong point for the Packers (8-6), even before their current four-game win streak. The Packers relied on a quick-passing attack to receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb to help compensate for an injury-riddled backfield and a foot injury to tight end Jared Cook.Slowly but surely, more threats are emerging, just in time for a game against Minnesotas tough defense coming up Christmas Eve at Lambeau Field. The Packers now have at least a couple of avenues to return to the playoffs for an eighth straight season, though the most direct road involves beating the Vikings to set up a winner-take-all showdown in Detroit for the NFC North on New Years Day against the Lions. If something else happens, then thats great, but were worried about this week and trying to get one more win and put ourselves in position to win the division, Nelson said. The Packers have hit on deep balls the last two weeks, with Adams snaring a 66-yard touchdown catch against Seattle before the Rodgers-to-Nelson bomb against the Bears that set up the winning field goal. The 6-foot-4 Cook is a matchup problem in coverage, as evidenced by his six catches for 85 yards on eight targets against Chicago.Ive talked about it since I got here, the fastest way to the end zone is through the middle of the field, so the bigger target you have going down the field the better it is for your quarterback, coach Mike McCarthy said.In the backfield, after losing Eddie Lacy to a season-ending ankle injury in October, the Packers finally seemed to have found a lead back in the most unconventional of ways.Former receiver Ty Montgomery erased any lingering doubt that he was just a novelty after rushing for a career-high 162 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries against Chicago. McCarthy disclosed last week that Montgomery was now a full-time running back, and the Bears treated him as such in coverage -- a first for an opposing defense this year, Rodgers said.Behind Montgomery, Christine Michael also appears to be settling in with Green Bay after being claimed off waivers from Seattle last month. Montgomery and Michael provided a one-two backfield punch against Chicago that the Packers havent had since Lacy and James Starks were healthy at the start of the season. The added diversity on offense comes at just the right time, too, with Rodgers working through calf and hamstring injuries.Even then, Rodgers arm remains sharp, even if his mobility might be limited.I felt like regardless of how our defense was playing, if we could set the tone offensively ... it would help out the defense, Rodgers said about his run the table comment. Give them a little confidence when they took they field that theyre not behind or against the field position every single time, as they were many times in that four-game stretch.Game notes The Packers didnt practice Tuesday. After Kentucky lost to UCLA 97-92 at Rupp Arena earlier this month, the most common response from observers seemed to be twofold.First there was shock, of course, but often there was a follow-up belief voiced that coach John Calipari will get his young team playing better defense sooner rather than later. That is certainly a reasonable expectation. Caliparis teams are known for finishing seasons with excellent numbers on defense, but right now its December and, per usual, the coach is playing a lineup that starts three, and even sometimes four, freshmen:?DeAaron Fox, Malik Monk,?Bam Adebaayo?and, occasionally, Wenyen Gabriel. No team this young is going to look like a finished product in the seasons first 10 games. So lets grant that Kentucky is a work in progress and pose a question before this team plays North Carolina and Louisville in rapid succession. Can this UK defense prove that the UCLA game was just a blip, or will the loss to the Bruins turn out to be the first indication of a substandard season on that side of the ball? Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
PITTSBURGH -- Josh Harrison watched his long drive hit off the wall in right-center field leading off the bottom of the ninth of a tie game against Milwaukee on Tuesday night and one thought kept running through his head: keep going. .So the Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman did, racing around second and diving into third before strolling home when the relay from Milwaukee second baseman Scooter Gennett bounded by the bag and out of play as the Pirates escaped with a 3-2 victory Tuesday night.I saw (Milwaukee center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis) jump for the wall, and from there I never broke stride, Harrison said. I was going to make (Gennett) make a perfect relay.Gennett didnt, and Harrisons Little League homer off Tyler Thornburg (3-4) allowed the Pirates to start a crucial stretch against National League also-rans with a victory despite a second straight blown save by All-Star closer Mark Melancon (1-1) and a scary moment in the second inning when rookie pitcher Jameson Taillon took a line drive to the head.Taillon, making his return from a stay on the disabled list to deal with right shoulder fatigue, was pitching to Hernan Perez with one out in the second when Perez sent a shot right back to Taillon that hit the 24-year-old in the back of the head and rolled out into left field. Taillon lay on the ground for several minutes while being tended to by medical staff before being cleared to stay in the game.I saw it coming at me, turned from it and remember going down, Taillon said. I could feel it on my head a little bit, but I remained conscious. I saw where the play went. I answered all the questions they asked me. I wanted to get up quicker than I was able to. I remember it pretty clearly.Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle admitted his thoughts went to Taillons parents watching on television but decided to trust the recommendation of the medical staff that Taillon was OK to continue. This is one area that Im not really comfortable with, he said. I have to trust our people. They do know what theyre doing, how to follow protocol to test the player and the things to do.The near miss hardly seemed to faze Taillon, who allowed one run and five hits, striking out three without a walk before being removed after throwing 65 pitches.I felt like I dealt with it pretty well, Taillon said. I definitely had some adrenaline after. I thought some of my pitches were up afterwards. Its tough to control the emotions right after that. I was able to keep the team in the game.Chris Carter doubled leading off the fourth and scored on a groundout by Perez but otherwise Taillon kept the Brewers in check as he outpitched Junior Guerra, a fellow rookie who has been one of the bright spots for the struggling Brewers, who have dropped five of six.Guerras only wobble came in the first, when two walks and a single by Andrew McCutchen loaded the bases with one out. David Freese loped a soft single to right field and Francisco Cervellis fly to left easily scored McCutchen to give Taillon an early lead. Guerra surrendered one more hit through six innings, walking three and striking out six.Taillon was solid during his first month in the majors before the team shut him down briefly due to concerns about his workload. He was fresh in his first start in three weeks, working quickly and retiring the last nine batters he faced before turning things over to a bullpen that rounded into form following a rocky start. The only hiccup lately has come from Melancon, who blew his third save of the season and second in three days. He issued a leadoff walk to Ryan Braun in the ninth and Jonathan Lucroy followed with a single. Melancon then struck out Carter and Nieuwenhuis before Perezs grounder to center tied the game.TRAINERS ROOMPirates: RF Gregory Polanco went 0 for 3 with a walk and a run scored while showing no ill effects from a sore left hamstring that kept him sidelined since July 8.UP NEXTBrewers: Chase Anderson (4-10, 5.44 ERA) will try to get a handle on his control issues on Wednesday night when he makes his second start of the season against the Pirates. Anderson has issued a career-high five walks in each of his last two starts, both losses to St. Louis.Pirates: Jeff Locke (8-5, 5.26 ERA) will try to win his fourth straight decision on Wednesday night when he makes his 18th start of the season. Mont Ventoux is famed for its exposed summit, but the new finish will see the race end in the relative shelter of the forest.?Organisers said the decision to shorten the stage was taken now as the entire stage would need to be cancelled if nothing was done before Thursday morning and the conditions proved unsafe. Froome won on Mont Ventoux on his way to overall victory in 2013, but thanked the organisers for putting riders safety first.Of course I was looking forward to doing Ventoux, its the most iconic climb, the most legendary climb in this years race, he said after extending his overall lead to 28 seconds. At the end of the day, apparently there are really just gale force winds and it just wouldnt be safe for the riders so thank you to the organisers for making the decision. Its the right thing to do.A bunch sprint had been expected in Montpellier but instead there was the unusual sight of the points leaders green jersey and the race leaders yellow crossing the line first and second.Crosswinds had caused splits in the peloton throughout the day, and although the riders were back together on the final approach to Montpellier, Sagan had one more trick up his sleeve. The Tinkoff rider was clocked at 71kph as he burst clear of the pack with team-mate Maciej Bodnar, and Froome was first to respond before being joined by Geraint Thomas. Together the quartet pulled more than 20 seconds ahead and that was enough to keep them clear to the finish.?It is [special], Sagan said after the sixth Tour stage win of his career and second this year. It was something crazy that happened. I didnt believe we could go and after Froomey and Geraint Thomas came with us, I said Were too strong, theyre never going to catch us. They just pulled very hard and it happened. Its unbelievable.Today everybody was like its crazy wind, its crazy wind. Crazy wind was the last 15km or 12km -- I dont know how much. With bonus seconds applied, Froome now leads the general classification by 28 seconds from 23-year-old Briton Adam Yates of Orica-BikeExchange, with Irishman Dan Martin of Etixx-QuickStep third, 31 seconds down.Movistars Nairo Quintana, seen as Froomes main rival for victory, is fourth, 35 seconds down. Sagans win strengthens his hold on the points leaders green jersey after he took it from Mark Cavendish on Tuesday and, given the mountains to come, the Slovakian looks certain to win the category for a fifth straight year barring accident or illness.Cavendish had been hoping for a shot at a fourth win of this Tour, but as Sagan and Froome were attacking ahead, the Manxman suffered a mechanical problem and was left to cross the line alone.Cavendish is now left with a decision to make over whether or not to stay in the race for the final days sprint in Paris or withdraw early and focus on preparing to compete on the track in the Olympics.Froome took yellow with a surprise downhill attack on stage eight into Bagneres-de-Luchon, and Wednesdays attack shows he is in feisty mood.Obviously I took a few seconds on the downhill and then again on the finish here, he said. Any opportunity I can see Im going to take it. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
